Exploring the Library

When I was younger one of the only things I was allowed to do outside of the house was go to the library. I loved to walk through the shelves and see which books would catch my eye. I feel like while I was at the library it was one of the rare moments I could be alone and completely in my own space.

A few weeks ago I made a trip back to the library for the first time in more than 10 years. I really don’t know what it is about the library…maybe it’s because it’s one of the only public spaces where silence is actually encourage. Maybe it’s the rooms full of endless knowledge. The way a library books smells when you crack it open…I just really love the library.

The library is such a safe space for me. I feel like when I went back for the first time in years I felt little bit more like myself. And yes, I didn’t walk out of there with an arm full of comic books just like I used to when I was 10. I feel like when I’m at the library I have the space to be 100% me. It’s such a comforting feeling.

Next time you’re feeling lost, confused, at a crossroad or are in the mood for a good book I highly recommend taking a trip to your local library. You’d be surprised what you can find there.
