After months and months of waiting I finally started cosmetology school!
So far I’ve only been in school for a week, which has been an orientation week. I get to meet and get comfortable with the other girls in my class (from what I understand most classes usually have a guy or two but mine just so happens to be all girls). Orientation also gave me the opportunity to get used to walking around campus, clocking in and out, getting to school on time (traffic in Austin is BRUTAL and my school is strict about tardiness), and get know know the company behind the school a little bit.
One of the things I really enjoyed about orientation is that we talked about professionalism and what it’ll be like after we’re done with school and are out in the world working and making names for ourselves. I went into the enrollment process with a very clear picture of myself as a working professional so I loved getting more information and support with that pretty much as soon as I set foot on campus.
Of course, I also loved getting my cosmetology kit, which is a massive duffel bag full of all of the tools I’ll need during school and professionally. It’s so amazing to have the tools to potentially follow my dreams and meet major milestones in my life. I’m so excited to get to know how to not only learn how to use my tools, but use them as best as I possibly can. Being good at cosmetology isn’t enough for me, I want to be the best! And after orientation I definilty feel like my school will help me be the best stylist I can be.
